Algos

Year: 2016

Materials and technique: Lava stone sculpture

Measures: 20 x 35 x 23

Note: Work rich in subliminal messages, the title Algos is to indicate in ancient Greek: “Pain”, pain that recalls the miracle performed by San Biagio who had saved a child who had a bone stuck in the throat, from here San Biagio protector of the throat, Patron Saint of Giuliano di Roma, country in

the province of Frosinone, where in a simoposio of sculpture the artist Riccardo Parisi realizes this work using the lava stone, stone easily found in those areas that in previous centuries were full of active volcanoes. If we look at the work of profile we can glimpse the mountain ranges with craters, but if we look at it from above we can see the clear reference to another type of pain represented in 1907 in the extraordinary painting: “Les demoiselles d’avignon” by Pablo Picasso in the face of the character at the bottom right. Work permanently exhibited in the MUVE Museo del vulcanismo ernico di Giuliano di Roma.
